Helpful tips
.
- Take your medication with a big glass of water (16oz) and right after eating food.
- Set medication reminders so you don’t forget to take your varenicline!
- Take your medication at the same time every day. If you struggle with remembering, try using a M-F pill container, or ask someone to remind you every day.
- If you miss a dose, you can take the pill as long as the next dose occurs in greater than 8 hours.
Example: Participant X takes their medication at 7 am and 9 pm. At 11:30 am, they realized they forgot to take their morning pill. In this case, they can still take their morning pill because there is greater than 8 hours between 11:30 am and 9 pm (when they take their evening pill right before bed).
.
Example 2: Participant X takes their medication at 7 am and 9 pm. At 3 pm, they realized they forgot to take their morning pill. In this case, they should skip their morning pill because there are fewer than 8 hours until they take their evening pill (9 pm).
